Respite Morning - November 19th

Bear Creek Church is hosting another respite morning on Saturday November 19th from 9am-12noon. This event is open to the public and free of charge.

The morning will include music, games, crafts, snacks and movies. We also will have a quiet room set aside for those who need a place away from all the stimulation. Unless otherwise arranged each of your children will be paired up with a volunteer (a “buddy” )to assist them through the activities of the morning.

When: Nov. 19th 9am-12noon. Check-in opens at 8:45am
Where: St Mary’s School gym, the current meeting place of Bear Creek Church.
816 Black Oak Drive, Medford
Who: Children with a disability and their siblings.
Ages: 0-14.

Registration is required. Deadline to register is Wednesday Nov. 16th. To register please e-mail bccsdm@gmail.com.

When registering please provide us with the names and ages of each child attending.

If your child has never attended one of our previous respite days we will be sending you a form to fill out with some questions that will help us know how to best care for your child.

All BCC sponsored activities are staffed by BCC members only and everyone has had security checks before being approved for volunteering. Several of our volunteers have also had several years experience working with children with special needs and we consider that and the info you provide when matching up volunteers with your children.

We have at least one medically trained person at our events as well.

We are hosting another respite day on February 12th from 9am-12noon; check-in begins at 8:45am.

The morning will include music, games, crafts, snacks and movies. We also will have a quiet room set aside for those who need a place away from all the stimulation. Unless otherwise arranged each of your children will be paired up with a volunteer (a “buddy” )to assist them through the activities of the morning.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day we will be serving your children lunch so you can have the option of taking yourself out to a meal and don’t have to worry about then feeding them afterwards.

When: Feb 12th 9am-12noon.
Where: St Mary’s School gym, the current meeting place of Bear Creek Church.

Joni and Friends Family Retreats 2010

Joni and Friends family retreats are week long camps that are for families that have one or more members with a disability, the children are paired up with STM's (short term missionaries) who volunteer(and pay!) to work along side your family, helping the children through the various activities of the day, while the parents/caregivers have various workshops and pampering to attend. The evenings are filled with activties to attend as a family.

Happy Valentine's Day

from Bear Creek Church.

We are pleased to announce that Bear Creek Church is busy planning a second respite day event and we hope that your kids will be able to join us. Save the date:

Saturday, Feb 13

Ages 0-12

10 till 1 PM (check in at 9:45)

St. Mary's School grounds

(drop off in the gym)

As we wanted to give you parents a chance to have a meal "date", we are planning lunch this time. The kids will be lunching on a choice of peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwiches as well as fruit. If that meal is not suitable for your child due to allergies or intolerances, please pack them a lunch.

If your child attended our last respite day we have your child's information on file, we just need your RSVP to let us know about attendance. Celebration and Talent Show - Nov 20th

BCC's G.E.MS Excited to Sponsor TOPSoccer!


G.E.MS / BCC is going to be sponsoring a TOPSoccer program in the Rouge Valley. .

STARTING Tuesday Oct. 27, 06:45 to 07:45 and every Tuesday there after until Dec, 15, (excluding Nov. 24, Thanksgiving week). We will be playing soccer at Abraham Lincoln Elementary.

We are excited about having another opportunity to serve your families. Your children will have a blast playing soccer with us. Please consider joining us on Tuesday evenings.
